According to an etiquette expert, there isn't much a few can do about what guests wear for their wedding apart from the state of the gown code around the invitation. “If your guests and couple are good friends, they'll respect the gown code. However, I have been to several weddings where guests were dressed up in outrageous outfits or mimicked the bride-to-be,” she says. Couples will (and really should) provide your guests with clear expectations of the dress code. The invitation will state the venue and just how formal the gown code is.

What if you don't wear it to a wedding? Rather than saying more to wear sage green bridesmaid dresses, I like to remember exactly what the day is all about. It’s about celebrating the pair and their love, so I would avoid wearing something that could distract using their special day.
